Sun Country Airlines boasts of a no hassles, no hidden rules and no blackout dates Ufly frequent flyer program that aims to award its loyal customers points that they can redeem for free tickets and other goodies. Unlike many other reward programs, Ufly awards its customers points rather than Miles. You may not expect an airline called Sun Country with white, orange and blue signature colors headquartered in Minneapolis to operate many routes within the US and to the Caribbean and Mexico to be so vibrant and popular but Sun Country Airlines is.
Earning Ufly points
Sun Country Airlines has simplified how Ufly points are awarded to make it easier to calculate and to keep track of earnings and redemption. Customers earn points for every dollar they spend on qualifying flight tickets and upgrades on Sun Country Airlines and partner members Hetz car rentals and 1-800 flower purchases.
An air ticket purchase on Sun Country Airlines, a class ticket upgrade and Airfare portions of vocational packages offered by Sun Country each earns 10 Ufly points per dollar spent. Hiring a car at Hertz earns 300 points for one to two days, 600 points for 3 to4 days and over 5 days earns 900 Ufly points. 1-800 flowers purchases on the other hand earn 10 points for every dollar spent.
The airline also offers special bonus promotions that have greater rewards including coast to coast flights earning triple points, a Mexico vacation package earning 10 points per $1 spent and points earned by buying gifts.
Redeeming Ufly points
Since Ufly members aren’t frustrated with blackout dates or inconvenienced by dynamic redemption dates on the calendar, redeeming points is easy and straightforward. After earning your points, you can choose to redeem them for free round-trip or one-way tickets and ticket class upgrades.
The most popular redemption method – getting flight tickets – start at 6,500 points and upgrades are even cheaper. Sun Country Airlines has a large table of costs of redeeming points on the Ufly website. Ufly members also have a ‘Pooling’ option where a number of members can combine their points to reach a target minimum to afford a member or members a flight or holiday package.
Sun Country Airlines introduced a myriad of changes to its frequent flyer program starting January 2013 and an Elite level membership, called Ufly Plus, is one of them. This is a premier Ufly program tier for travellers willing to register with $99 and part with $12 monthly fee. Some of the elite membership benefits include priority check-in, boarding and security screening, complimentary first-class upgrades where space is available, two free bags, same day changes without change fees and free advanced seat selection.
